Initial impressions are that this is quite tippy - there's a nice amount of fuzzy, golden buds in the mix. Also this has more of a chocolate note in the nose than any unscented black tea I've had so far.
Infusions
- A pleasant perfume on the wet leaf nose: floral chocolates and assorted sweets; honey and lilacs; a subtle degree of spice. Smells like a very lovely, gender-neutral cologne or perfume. The taste is quite chocolatey and sweet with mineral honey notes and elusive flowers.
- Brighter woods and warming spices in the nose. A roasted mixture of fruits, chocolates, and flowers, combined with ambrosial honey.
- The smell on the lid of the gaiwan each infusion has been lovely and consistent - super perfumey and floral with a complex mix of aromas. Has a signature Dian Hong-style body and core flavor profile along with a similar picking, so I'm making my guess that that's the style on this one - but I could be completely wrong (Paul, please let me into the clique). I'm really intrigued by that chocolate note and predict I'm gonna blow through this sample pretty quickly.
- Stupid smooth, like I'm drinking a velvet blanket.
- Notably more mineral with an all-around pleasant profile. Still holding at the same amount of floral notes but a bit pulled back on some of the bottom flavor categories on the chart. Some more umami. Leaves a pleasant almost sweetened soy sauce flavor in the mouth.
- Not a ton of change & it's starting to die back. Still super enjoyable and will continue drinkin it into the ground, but I figure I've already documented the best slice of life this tea has to offer
